Petroleum spills can cause a large headache to clean. Petroleum is often very hard to remove from the soil butnecessary since it will leach into the soil and groundwater. Petroleum distillates will penetrate into the water table and spread considerably further than the original site. Even if you're using an imported soil that has been sterilized, but which has petroleum contamination, Petra-Zyme can help. It requires resident bacteria to get the job done, but this can be accomplished by blending it with some local soil to introduce your native bacteria. Once it has been “localized” Petra-Zyme will work just fine!
Petra-Zyme functions in all soils by providing better oxygen content, which in turn enhances hydrocarbon-decomposition bacterial growth. That is the key to its bioremediation abilities and overall effectiveness.
In practice, soil levels of 10,000 TPH can be treated with a dilution of 16:1 water to Petra-Zyme, over the course of five weeks. Higher levels require additional weeks. For crude oil contamination, a dilution of 5.3:1 is required.
